It's a sad day.

McCain/Palin won our state, but unfortunately they didn't win the big race. I have yet to speak to one person that is excited about the outcome... maybe I will bump into someone tomorrow that actually thinks we got a good deal.

I wish the presidential race had a time limit... from start to finish they have 3 months or something. I swear it took two years to get this dang thing over with. Also, focus on the REAL issues! NOT clothing or family... but important things like why the HELL wont someone provide a birth certificate or what the F is "change"? Have you really ever defined it!? Change. That's nice but what kind of change? Not ALL change is good.

Count me in the camp of who wants to know what this "change" really is... and HOW exactly it's gonna be brought about? That's the part I keep missing.

I voted for McCain, but I'm actually happy with Obama. Given the last administration I think it will improve our standing overseas that we showed we are trying to get away from that kind of leadership. Plus, with both houses in congress and a majority of the state governors being Democrats, it's a rare opportunity for the president to get cooperation from the others. I just hope Obama will lead them instead of turning into a do-nothing president.

TC: I'm really surprised that no one has really called him on it. Of course, its the media that would hammer him... and they were all pro-Obama

Grant: Just about every military person I've talked to was a McCain voter. I hope that Obama comes through for everyone and proves us that didn't want him... wrong. I also hope his wife isn't the one running him. I'm not impressed with her at all! Considering you were in the military... does it not bother you that your Commander in Chief has zero experience with Military?! Just wondering...

It used to matter to me, but now it doesn't. As long as he doesn't try to personally lead the troops into battle, the role of the Commander in Chief is usually to decide policy, not make tactical decisions. Despite the typical Republican support for Bush, he reduced soldier benefits more than any president since WWII when we were in desperate times. Being willing to use the military does not equal supporting the troops. I haven't heard any promises made, but hopefully Obama will (if he takes any actions with vets) restore some of the lost benefits.

Grant: ok... I have noticed reduced benefits. My ex is on active duty and it's been quite the hassle for him and C & P. However as far as the kids are concerned, we were told there are probably some collegiate benefits for THEM because of him being on active duty. I guess that wasn't in place before.

Thanks for some clarification. I really pray Obama does do the vets fairly. I've never thought we have treated our veterans as they should be treated. Just my opinion... but when a person is actually in combat I think they should reap some serious benefits when they get to come home!!!
