Tubular

Because I have considerably more time on my hands, some of these hours are spent/wasted watching TV. I’m not a talk show fan, I dislike soaps, and I’ve really gotten out of watching any sort of prime time drivel but there are some shows out there (even several judge shows; I adore Judge Judy, she's such saucy bitch!) I’ve become addicted to. I can hear the groaning already and you know you are more than welcome to disagree. : ) There is no accounting for taste, eh? We have Dish satellite here on the outskirts of Podunkville and I have found I’m partial to HGTV and the TLC channels. In no particular order I am mesmerized by these offerings:

What Not to Wear. Totally hooked on this one. Young or old, these female walking fashion disasters get well-heeled makeovers thanks to our fashion experts and some high priced NY boutiques. Some are pleasantly surprised, eager, and willing, but a few balk like a government mule and stubbornly refuse to follow the required guidelines. There are several I would personally bitch-slap but most come around to appreciating their new visage. One tall nanny with hideous taste flat out refused to have her beyond waist length tresses even trimmed by Nick though she did submit to Carmindy’s brushes. Needless to say, it detracted from her polished new look but that was her loss. Another favorite episode was the 23-year old wild child from Austin, Texas whose clothing taste was so bizarre that her signature look was a raccoon’s (?) tail attached to her derriere!!! She dressed beyond trampy and fought tooth and nail to keep her ‘look’. I really thought Mz Stacy and Mr Clinton were going to have a double coronary with her but reason prevailed and the tail was retired along with the rest of her hoochie getups. After the transformation, she looked lovely and sophisticated and our fav fashionistas did not turn her into a matronly frump as she feared. Nick’s wizardy with the scissors and Carmindy’s expert makeup application are just as essential to make this show work and their enthusiastic expertise is much appreciated. In conclusion, I love you Stacy and Clinton! Please come to Chez Circe and work your marvelous magic!

Property Ladder (and others like it). If it has anything to do with fixing up a house, I’m there. I love how the attractive yet snooty “veteran flipper” Kirsten comes to check on the first-timer’s progress. Her expressions are priceless when she hears their impractical, convoluted plans for the property. She always has wise advice which is rarely taken as the couple blissfully plunge headlong into their money pit abyss. The result is either going over budget, extra weeks spent in the renovation, not focusing on what Mz Expert advised to concentrate on or all of the above. The end result is occasionally a house that sits on the market for weeks or months on end with no recoup of investment. No doubt an undisclosed fallout has been divorces or breakups. My personal favorite was the female space cadet who calmly informed Kirsten that her house let it be known what it wanted done and what color to paint it. Apparently this chatty abode possessed a champagne appetite as the kitchen insisted on custom cabinets! This lunatic went waaaaaaay over budget and thanks to an overinflated asking price, failed to sell the house. A blurb across the screen did say she was listening for another communicative property to makeover. Ya can’t make these things up folks.

Myles of Style (Kim Myles), Color Splash (David Bromstad), Deserving Design (Vern Yip), etc.

Design Star 2 winner Kim Myles challenges homeowners to unlock their creativity as she helps them turn rooms from drab to fab in Myles of Style. With her signature creativity, talent for design and budget brilliance, Kim works her makeover magic to transform ordinary spaces into design masterpieces.

Totally love the room makeovers and I get all excited and motivated and think of a million things I’d like changed to jazz up my own nest. Doubt my plans ever come to fruition but it sure is fun to dream. Kim Myles does a terrific job on a shoestring budget, and David Bromstad from Color Splash is a very talented guy. I like Vern Yip from Deserving Design too. Heck, they are all good.

The Girls Next Door. I never thought I’d say I’d be this depressed to be losing Holly, Bridget, and Kendra’s profound thoughts and cerebral witticisms expounded on TV but frankly, I’ve come to enjoy watching them cavort about the mansion and throw parties for their dogs and pick out hooker costumes for whatever bashes are being held that week. You know, just what every American gal does on a daily basis. But honestly, I’m crushed that they are moving on and I won’t get to tune in and cringe and shudder every time any of them kiss those geriatric, wrinkled, pruned up lips (Hefs, ya goose) Blah! I guess it’s been seven years or so for Holly and possibly Bridget too, and it was time to start an actual life instead of being kept like a cosseted rare hothouse flower by a decrepit octogenarian. I realize it’s early in the game, but his new twin fluffheads didn’t strike me as having much of a personality and I don’t recall who the third flaxen-haired gold digger, er, replacement is. I haven’t heard if this show will continue with the new cast but my curiosity will get the better of me and I’ll be compelled to tune in at least a few times to check out the newbies. The season finale is March 1 so you where you can find me. Holly, Bridget, Kendra—I’ll miss you! *sniff*

Sober House. (It’s positively addictive!) This is a spin-off of Celebrity Rehab and I have TBC to thank for getting me completely hooked. I only caught part of its last season, CR2, but I’m front and center for each new SH episode. Not all of the cast from CR2 (Jeff, Tawny, Gary, Sean) chose to enter Sober House, but there have been a few additions so we have a nice selection of “former” junkies to watch screw up, and screw up they do. This really should be renamed “Who Falls off the Wagon This Week?” as that has pretty much been the premise so far. Week 1 featured Steven Adler who had the balls to show up on the first day higher than a kite not to mention attempting to smuggle drugs in. He was caught red-handed and spent the first night at one of the burly male staff’s home. As if this wasn’t enough, a few evenings later, he got his grubby hands on more drugs at a pool party thrown at the residence. This time the house mom, Jen, was forced to call the police as smiley Steve got darn belligerent and positively violent. He spent the night in lockup and went for more rehab before once again returning to the house. Week 2 showcased Amber, the lovely pill-popping model, who went to some private party with a hockey player and got seriously sozzled and shagged though she claims not to remember much of the evening in question. Week 3 had Seth going on a three-day drug-fueled bender and worrying his addiction-prone colleagues to distraction. Honestly, he has my vote for Mostly Likely to OD and Croak in a Trash Strewn Alley. Steve Adler runs a close second. I truly feel for them both but they have seriously got to want sobriety and I just don't get the feeling they are trying that hard. On the other hand, Rodney King seems to be the most dedicated to staying sober and just may make it. This Thursday, tonight! (9pm Central) we’ll see Mary the porn star (Cleveland native) next up to bat for falling from sobriety grace. Stay tuned…

Moron Mom

Before this bit of news becomes lost in the shuffle, I wanted to address the issue revolving around the highly unstable egomaniac who selfishly decided to pop out a litter of eight more mouths to feed adding to her already bulging passel of six. And she's soliciting donations! Normally the term “mandatory sterilization” would come to mind but in this case I’m thinking her and the doctor who aided and abetted this fiasco should both be taken out and shot. What were they thinking?? She’s unmarried, unemployed, and her mom is raising the first batch. Did she really expect kudos and applause from the public at large for adding more mouths to feed in this already overpopulated world we live in? I’m puzzled and confused over her motives. While fifteen minutes of fame may be nice, this is not the way to go about it. I always thought fertility drugs were for those couples who had tried for years to have children of their own and only then resorted to this risky method. Guess I was wrong. A good rule of thumb would be to not produce any more children than you can afford to raise. This would come under responsible parenting. Unrealistic, I know. At any rate, my heart (but thankfully, not my wallet) goes out to already overburdened California taxpayers.

Bunny Hop

Playboy magazine may soon be up for sale.

Yup, things are REALLY BAD in the bunny empire!

You'd never know there was trouble from watching Girls Next Door! I guess the 3 girlfriends bailed when it was good!

Give Me a Pill

Facebook changed its tune.

Maybe that's why I couldn't sleep last night? Stressing over whether Facebook would use my innocent pictures on some less than innocent advertising or other photo opportunity. Maybe it was the fact that i'm stressing over my job. It could have been because our daycare lady went into 'labor' again and her doctor admitted her to the hospital for observation... which meant we didn't have a sitter today and for those of you with small children know that that is hard to deal with at the very last minute when you need to go to work! (BTW... daycare lady is perfectly fine. The baby isn't due yet and they keep giving her shots to stop contractions and keep the baby baking for a little while longer. All's good today). I've been up all night so that means *counting* a total of 31 hours now. I just laid in bed staring at the ceiling... smelling bacon. No one had cooked bacon in our house... for days. But I smelled bacon cooking. I tossed and turned and finally got up at 5:15am and went to Spin class. Now I'm tired and would love to sleep, but I don't see that anywhere near in my future. I have class to teach plus i'm meeting with our Accountant this afternoon.

Maybe a big glass of wine tonight to help settle my feathers? Maybe a bottle...

Alive & Kicking

Greetings fellow earthlings...

Yes, it's really me, your MIA Mz Circe. How ya doing? I'm not quite sure why I picked today to pop in but it seemed fitting. Today is actually my wedding anniversary to TBC and while we had a lovely lunch he felt compelled to spend most of this evening with his cousin and wife so if I am a trifle POed, I believe it's understandable. Romantic he ain't. Other than his lack of attention, I had a pretty good day. I wolfed down the majority of the delicious truffles his brother and wife graciously gifted us with. (Ha! Take that dumbass!) Ok, I will probably pay for that but it was indeed worth it.

I'm coming up blank for what is new. It's odd not working so I miss the interaction of clueless coworkers and their bone-headed actions. I've mostly been diligently taking care of myself heathwise and that's kinda boring so I won't inflict minute details regarding that on our adoring public. Anyway, I miss and love all of you and hope to make more appearances in the future when I feel the need to share something or throw one of my regular rants.

Ciao for now,
Circe

Bitch and Moan and Groan

After a trip to Wal-Mart (or as my freakin' gma calls it, Mal-Marks), I'm sipping on something to help remove the scars I bare from having to deal with the idiots at the Service Desk!

Seriously, your IQ must be in the single digits to work the almighty service desk!

Seattle Grey's

It's a great day! I just read that Katherine Heigl is leaving Grey's Anatomy. It's about flipping time!

(Undated) -- It looks like Izzie Stevens and George O'Malley will be leaving Seattle Grace Hospital soon. According to "Us Weekly," "Grey's Anatomy" actor James Pickens Jr. recently announced that fellow stars Katherine Heigl and T.R. Knight plan to exit the ABC series by the end of the current season. Pickens said he wishes Heigl "nothing but the best," and noted that Knight, quote, "just wanted to pursue other career paths." An unnamed source also told "Us" that "Grey's Anatomy" writers are currently working on a plausible way for Knight's character to exit the show. Reps for Heigl and Knight refused to comment, and ABC would not confirm the news.

I was SO sick of Izzie's story line I could just puke. Denny should have died when he died. That is the absolute dummest thing ever to have her having a relationship with a dead person. It was like they had the character but didn't know what to do with her. She was just stuck there. Plus she became super irritating because she acts dumb and is always doing dumb crap. Yeah she's leaving!

Now O'Malley on the otherhand. I kind of liked him. His character was kind of fun... kind of smart in a dorky kind of way. I think I'll miss him.

Money Makes No Sense

I think more and more, this will be happening.

As corporate downsizing and closings continue to occur, more and more Americans are finding themselves in financial situations they never dreamed they'd be in. I'm not sure I wouldn't be pissy and want to retaliate against my mortgage company for booting me out of my house that I've been making payments on (in a nice timely fashion) just because I've stumbled onto some hard times. The mortgage companies are better off making new arrangements with you for any kind of payment than to let the house get destroyed and then they are stuck. Don't ya think?

10 Things, Actually 20... no, no, 10

10 Things We Hate About Valentine's Day

1. Single or coupled, if you didn't make a reservation in January, your options for going out to dinner are limited to the local fast food drive-through. Um, Richard... do we have reservations yet!?

2. The hour of our lives we waste every year in the greeting card aisle, looking for the perfect one. It doesn't take me THAT long!

3. The overnight tripling of the price of roses, forcing your boyfriend to choose between getting you a bouquet of a dozen or paying his cable bill that month. Pay the cable bill ;)

4. The 24/7 romantic comedy marathon on TV during the month of February either makes you feel like a loser for being single or makes you resent your boyfriend for not being John Cusack. Isn't the marathon on all the time on LifeTime?

5. If you've had anything resembling a date in the past two months, it always prematurely launches the "where is this going?" conversation.

6. If you're single and lucky enough to have three close, single girlfriends, you can't go out for drinks with them without being a cliché.

7. We don't need another stuffed teddy bear holding a heart or a cheap box of "guess the mystery filling" chocolates, thanks. Yeah, no thanks.

8. They don't make Valentine's Day cards for friends-with-benefits or "I think I like you but it's too soon to tell."

9. We just started paying off our credit card bills from holiday shopping — our bank statements can't handle another gift.

10. Those gross taste-like-sidewalk-chalk conversation hearts. I want chocolate!

Note: I do love Valentine's Day... I just thought the list was interesting! Again... Richard do we have reservations because I really didn't think about that and i'm sure the little place I want to go will be full and you know I don't like to eat at 9pm because then that food just lays in your stomach and makes you fat overnight. How's that for ruining the moment!? ;)

Super Bowl Sunday

The Super Bowl is Sunday!

Where did that come from? It kind of just snuk up on me! For weeks (months?) I've been thinking to myself "super bowl sunday" and plotting and planning what we will do and where we will go and who we will be with, etc. Suddenly, its here and we have no plans. Not one thing do we have planned. Nothing. Notta. Zilch. Our cycling group had talked about having a big party and all kinds of food and drinks and how to decorate the clubhouse, etc. But not one single def plan has been made. Its 3 days away! I guess we've all lost track of time. So now, I'll make plans of my own. I don't know what those plans might be yet... but I'll have plans!

I dont even know who is planned for half-time entertainment *shocked*

Everything's Big in Texas

Despite the nasty weather we are having in these parts of the world, I made my way (slowly) to the gym this morning and saw a little weather blurp about the ice storm in Oklahoma. So.... I tuned it to see what Fox News was saying about us.

Blah Blah Blah... I've heard it all a million times.

Then, the weather lady comes on to tell everyone where this big bad storm is moving and she proceeds to say that "in Armarillo Texas" blah blah blah. I just about fell off the eliptical. Armarillo? That's like Armadillo, but not. If those Texans heard that, they'd be ropin you up, girl!

Fox is always good for some entertainment. I remember the time that the one dude blew over in a hurricane... again I fell over laughing. haha What is his name?!!? You know the one that had a talk show. Still funny.

Jurassic Park

P and I went to see Walking with the Dinosaurs last night. ROOOAAARRR! It was a good show! It's pretty cool how they move those big pieces of animal. About 15 minutes before the show was set to begin, we watched 3 guys hoist themselves up into seats far above the floor. From each of these seats, they remotely controlled each movement and sound of the dinosaurs. They were loud and lifelike. Their dinosaur size was true to size. The T-Rex and a few others would get right up in the crowd and ROOOAAAARRRRR!!!! A few times we spotted kids scrambling for higher ground. hahaha

My First Time

Baby Z is just like her momma!!! A chocoholic!

Last night, for the very first time, I put some chocolate milk in her sippy cup after she'd finished dinner. I usually give her water... so she just took a little sip and put the cup down. Obviously it dawned on her that "that ain't no ordinary drink!" That was liquid M&M's! She devoured every last drop in seconds. I craved chocolate milk the entire time I was preggers with baby Z and now, she's a lover.

Another first for her happened this past weekend. We took her to her first Blazers hockey game. I wasn't sure how she'd react, but I kind of weighed more towards she'd enjoy the people. She had an absolute blast! She flirted with the drunk guys sitting behind us and played Hide N Go Seek with the girls a few rows back. She picked at the caulking in the seams of the floor and ate funnel cake. She was an absolute dream for being up 3 hours past her bedtime and being confined to our row of seats that whole time. I'd say she's a sports fan! A cheerleader in the making!? (hope not. I'd rather her play than cheer)

While I'm Thinking About It

I talked to Circe yesterday and she sounds great! She's just gotten over the nasty flu.... but she sounded perky and energetic! Yeah! I miss her so much and I hope to get her back on here some day!

Overload

I really hate stupid people.

I thought the holiday break would refresh me and put me in a better frame of mind. But on the first day back to class, its a big negative. Stupid people piss me off. I love training. I love teaching people how to use software and about their PC/laptop. I do NOT love telling them for the f'ing umpteenth thousandth time and nothing has changed! The answer is the same as the first time I told you as it is today. Absolutely NOTHING has changed. Why the heck can't some people grasp AND RETAIN information?! It's not like its throw away info. You know, something you need right now and will never see again. It's basic login info, or how to minimize or maximize or how to find EXCEL if it's not a pretty icon on your desktop. OMG!

Oh... and what is a desktop? No, it's not what you set your papers on to write and a Window is not what we look through to see outside. Yes, these are things that come up in class... over and over and over. ugh

My fiery glares should indicate that they have reached their stupid question maximum. I'm gonna start givin them their sign!

Other than that... its a good day! :)

Something is in the Air

Yeah! My new year is off to a great start! I bailed out of bed at 5:30 this morning to hit the gym and what did I find when I got there!? SPIN CLASS!!! My favorite! So, I saddled up and proceeded to pedal my hardest for 45 minutes.

It was fantastic until about 10 minutes into it when I got a good whiff of the heavily perfumed gym rat chick next to me. Any other time she'd smell great... but not when we're huffing and puffing, trying to get every ounce of oxygen in our lungs to make it through the next pedal. I found her scent to be suffocating. Her appearances would lead me to believe she's a super clean person. Always put together well, even in the gym. So, was there a need to cover an all-niter binge of wild and crazy sex smell? Take a shower! No one smells so bad they need to bathe in perfume prior to sweating it all off at the gym!

Then about 15 minutes later comes another whiff of the opposite. Someone farted. Tooted. Ripped one. Silent Flatulence! I have breath-taking perfume on one side and fartious maximus on the other. Where do I turn!? I had no choice but to put my head down and breathe in my own sweatie shirt smell. Much better!

Sweet smelling perfume and fart do not mix. *note to self to not pedal between those two*

Starting Over 09

Happy New Years!

This year Richard and I chose to stay out of the clubs and big parties and instead chose to spend the evening with just a few friends. Some of Richards friends from college and some old (I don't mean old in age, but past) neighbors joined us and even a cycling buddy! We had fun. Did you guys catch the guy in Vegas landing on the casino... and then jumping off??? On his bike. I don't remember his name. I'm so full of helpful info! ha

Marsha came to our little gathering... broken foot and all! She got spooked by a mouse and jumped somehow and broke her foot!
