Debbie Does Daycare

I had a coversation with the little neighbor boy last night...

G: Kerry, have you heard of Pinography?
*racing through racks of information in my head to try to figure out what Pinography was*
Me: Is that like Stenography? A Stenographer?
G: Yeah, Pinography.
*obvioulsy a confused look on my face*
G: You know, when there is stuff on your computer that isnt good?
*big bright eyes*
Me: OH!!!! (obviously hit me) You mean Pornography!!!!
G: Yeah, Pinography... or pornography
Me: why would you know about that!??! *growing ever concerned because he is too small to be thinking of such things!*
G: My dad's girlfriend teaches and that was found on her Superintendents computer and he got fired.

Well good grief, i'd hope so!

P: what's Pinography?
*so happy he's not into knowing what that is*
Me: you mean pornography
G: I'm not explaining it... Kerry you better explain it

First of all, why a little 3rd/4th grader knows all the ins and outs of it is beyond me and secondly, I should have let him explain it to see if he really understood what it was!

Me: Well, P... it's dirty pictures of people doing naughty things and it's too trashy to be looking at. It will get you in trouble.

G: Yeah, so and so said he saw some Pinography with little 3 and 4 year olds
Me: ok!!! Just stop!

I had to end the conversation. I figured there was probably more between them when I left.... but it was so weird to hear it all from such little people. They shouldnt hear about this until..... at least until they go to church camp or something!

He's Still Precious

Last weekend Richard and I went to a club with a friend of mine to listen to a band play (dont remember the importance of the band)... and to meet up with a coworker of hers and other friends.

Here's our sweet Glamour Shot that night...

And then I loaned Richard out to other girls for photo opportunities...

Freaky Monday

I either over did it in the gym yesterday.... or pulling weeds last night. I doubt it was the weeds.

My stomach muscles are aching... hurt actually. Every time I rolled around last night, I woke up and it took every muscle in my body to position myself because I was making every effort NOT to use my stomach muscles. I couldn't even lift my legs this morning while trying to shave them silky smooth. I got the job done.. I just had to bend over at my 'waist' and go to my legs instead of bringing them up to me.

I think i'll take it easy tonight... maybe walk less time or slow down a bit at the gym. I've tried to keep up a good fast pace - as much as I can considering my air intake is somewhat limited these days. I've changed from lifting heavy weights (doing fewer reps) to lighter weights and higher reps... so that shouldn't be an issue. I think its the race/walking I do. I guess I could cut out some of the chocolate chip cookies I eat so that I would be able to get away with less exercise...

I also dreamed about having spiders in my ear. This is the second time I dreamed this dream... about the spiders. In this particular dream, my sister was talking to me and them screamed because she saw a spider in my hair. She got to looking for it, and then noticed a whole trail of them in my right ear. They had set up house in there! My dream ended with me heading to the doctor to have the spiders removed.

The Weather Channel

For about a month or so it's been raining like... well like the Central U.S. was suddenly a rainforest during Monsoon season with a few hurricanes passing through sporadically. Translation: It's rained a flipping ton here! We've gritched alot about it.... but one thing the rains did bring was cooler weather. Although it would be in the 70's or 80's, it would feel like 100 because of humidity.

Well, today its registering 97 degrees PLUS humidity... so that means it is HOT and SULTRY.

I'm not complaining. I'm just sayin'. Its hot. I'm really glad the sun is out... but it's really hot!

Oil & Water

Eight interesting facts about TBC and me (courtesy of our beloved Burg):

We met through his close friend who had moved to the beach after me but prior to TBC’s arrival. TBC was originally headed for Okiedokieland in what turned out to be a massive migration on his family's part but in a last minute change of heart, decided to give the beach a shot thereby heading toward the land of ocean and sky rather than wind whipping down the plains. It was there that rather than meeting a lovely, genteel Southern lass, he spied a skinny, shy, tongue-tied, blonde Northern transplant. (yeah me) Nevertheless, her striking beauty *snicker* intrigued him and the abbreviated chase was on to win her elusive hand. Not one to succumb without a fight, Mz Impossible only capitulated after an interested eye was cast in her sister's direction. After a brief courtship, TBC and Mz Circe were joined in marriage by a justice of the peace and have been battling it out ever since. A few years after our hasty vows, TBC dragged his kicking and screaming spouse to Tornadoville and for the most part we have resided here ever since.

TBC and I seem to prefer "M," "N," and "O" (Missouri, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, and Oklahoma) states. I have no idea why we have a predilection for living in the middle of the alphabet (and country) but we do.

TBC is the polar opposite of me personality-wise. He’s a gregarious extrovert who never met a human being he hasn’t for the most part, liked. I, on the other hand, am the reserved, shy and somewhat suspicious introvert though I’ve emerged from my shell more and more as the years have passed. No visit to any establishment is complete without his chatting up friends, neighbors, workmates, acquaintances, etc. because this man knows everyone. I believe it may stem from his small town roots where everyone knows everyone else’s business, while I retain my big city ‘MYOB” demeanor.

I’m an avid reader who always has a minimum of three books and/or periodicals in various stages of reading progress going at one time while TBC pretty much only cracks a tome when absolutely forced to. A deep, rocky chasm divides non-readers who think readers waste perfectly good time on copious amounts of mindless drivel and readers who secretly believe non-readers are shallow, clueless morons. TBC’s pretty much given up breaking me of this “useless, boring habit” and arguments regarding this particular bone of contention have fallen by the wayside. Singles need to factor this potential problem in when considering the pros and cons of mate material.

We both come from loving nuclear families though they differed in size, location, and economic status. He’s one of six, mostly male siblings (No. 2) and I (Numero Uno) have one younger sister. He grew up in a small town in northern NY and well, we all know where I hail from. *round on the end and high in the middle* Evenly divvying up the economic pie, not to mention time and attention among so many siblings certainly differed from the simple half division I enjoyed.

Much like Kerbear and Richard, we both love to travel and grew up road tripping on family vacations. This tradition has carried on as together with our two beautiful Circettes, ;) we have seen most of the contiguous United States. Driving duties are divided between us but for the most part, he plays chauffeur to my helpful, passenger side navigator. As much as we love the US, we are woefully behind in observing how the rest of the world lives. Plans are in the works for a tropical island vacation early next year and then European trips in the future.

We were both rebels as teenagers but my vanilla version of rebelling paled in comparison to his wild, rowdy ways. Yep, I married the bad boy. The pseudo fairy tale version of how this all works out in the wash bears absolutely no resemblance to grim reality. Plan on weekly, if not daily, hell.

Much like Weather’s hub, TBC projects a “good ole boy” image to the outside world but living with him day in and day out is a whole other story. I’m not sure one can change a control freak/bully but it sure makes for an obstacle-riddled existence for an easygoing, fun-loving, ‘peace at any price,’ free spirit like me. It’s not all bad and I will enumerate some of his good qualities in a future post, but I know for a fact I would never consider going through this continuous 'mountains out of molehills' drama again and will cherish my freedom when it happens. I leave you with this wise old adage: "Marry in haste, repent in leisure."

Gas Prices are Suppose to Go UP!

I had a weird dream last night (surprise surprise)

I dreamed that the oil fields had a complete shutdown. Gone. So... because they shut down, we couldnt work (in my line of business we are not directly related to them in any way other than we need gas to put in our vehicles to deliver product).

Really weird was that Johnny was my supervisor (he's currently NOT my supervisor and in a complete different line of work. He's in Buildings and Grounds) and he was moving me to this new big plush office, but when it came time to move he came and told me to hang on 'i've got a meeting'. He took off for his meeting and I went and sat at long tables with a whole ton of other employees.

He soon came out and told me that we're having to close the place down because of the oil field shutdown and we were all out of jobs! I got a good 6 month severance package.... but the place completely shut down... and my new big plush office was no longer!

Weird too was that I was completely happy with this. I didnt feel upset in any way... and was relieved that it was over.

I've Been Nailed

Ok. I've been tagged by Burg to list 8 things interesting (or most precious) about my Husband and I. Let me try....

1. Richard and I met for the first time at my sister's bar-b-que. He worked with my (then) bro-in-law and I'd heard alot about him... so I took a friend who had just recently moved to the city (didnt know anyone) and I thought they'd hit it off. What I pictured in my head from hearing conversation... and what I saw when I got there were two different things. With my boyfriend in tow, I spent the evening turning on the charm and throwing myself at Richard because he was just too much fun!

2. Five months later we saw each other again - for New Years. I tried to get my boyfriend to stay home because I knew Richard would be going out with our group, but he came along. My bf was too interested in the big boobs sitting at our table (not mine), so that left me free to focus on this new piece of meat across from me (Richard). I turned all of my attentions to Richard and flirted endlessly... he STILL didn't get it! He's so precious.

3. Three months later (and boyfriend history) I called my bro-in-law and told him to call Richard to see if he wanted to go out (group thing) for fun. Of course he was game. That night, it was like it hit him.... we chatted for about 5 hours nonstop and he says all he could think about were my lips and how he wanted to kiss me :) We stayed at my sis's house that night and we chatted... and I invited him to join me on the futon. He was such a gentleman! He was very proper and kept his hands to himself... so that made me want him even more and VERY determined to get him :) Funny how that works. We, um... talked til the sun came up :)

4. Richard proposed to me while on a cruise and had actually asked both of my boys for their approval - before asking me. He's so sweet! They were so excited and still are to this day. They love him.

5. Now, Richard has me knocked up... and he's having a little girl that will most likely be spoiled rotten by her dad and two brothers.

6. We fight over stupid stuff but typically its short lived. Most often it's when we're in the car and he's driving and usually about the WAY he's driving! It drives me nuts when he rides the tailend of the car in front of him... if he'd ever been sandwiched between two trucks on Hefner RaceWay before, he'd understand a girls jumpiness and be a little more sensitive to her desire for you to slow your ass down and back off!

7. Richard's nature is very quiet and easy-going where as mine is more talkative, loud, aggressive, stubborn, etc. So we go well together. haha

8. We love to travel and go at every chance we get! We've both made up little lists of places we want to visit and slowly but surely we're making it through our list. He is the best travel partner a girl could ever ask for! He doesn't get moody or tire easily and he's always game to try something new! It's always excitement!

I've got to tag the Queen. Her stories crack me up and i'm sure there are some humorous ones with her hubby! Angela needs to be tagged. Her little guy Gregory is a doll and hubby sounds like such a nice guy ;)

If we can get Twisted to write... something is always going down with her and Boxers! They have just too much fun!

I'd love to tag Bone and Ben. HAHAHA Oh, the comedy! But they dont have husbands (that i'm aware of)... but I guess they could write about g/f and wifey!

I hope Circe writes. She's still home recup'in from her car wreck - and doing well I might add. I chatted with her on the phone a few nights ago and she's bruised, but bouncing back quickly!

Chillin' at The Holiday Inn

This past weekend all of us were outside messing around with the camera and C took his new OSU hat and put it on my head. "Mom, you look good! Now do the pose" and he did something like this... some gangsta thing... and I tried to do it. Richard got the pic. Good grief I look corny. hahah

Over The Miles

Yesterday, C and I took a little road trip to see some of his friends and we left Richard and P home... alone. I was on the road for about 3 hours total and I sat and jabbered for a few hours while I was there... so we were gone for quite a while!

I got a text message from Richard that said that he and P had cleaned the house. Yippeee! I didnt have to do as much as I thought when I got home!

I never imagined that they really cleaned! I walked in the front door and it smelled clean! I couldnt smell the trash, or sweatie soccer shoes... I smelled lemony fresh clean kitchen and sugar cookie candle living room! The carpet had been vaccumed, bathrooms cleaned, laundry put away and the tables cleaned off. They did an awesome job!

C and I should travel more often. Rich and P work well together. Note: I did get word from Rich that P took on the bathroom task and drug it out as long as he could and hid as much as he could get away with... probably out of fear he'd be assigned another task if he finished that one. HAHAHHA

Happy Happy!

Yes gang, it was a mere two years ago that Kerbear and I took the plunge, put our quirky heads together (kinda like Siamese twins) and started sharing our unique perspective with fellow bloggy journalists. Amazing, huh? :)

Alot has changed since our initial attempts at typed entertainment but we are still lovin' it and hope to continue for many eons to come. Stop by and have a piece of cyber cake to commemorate this special day. Ker and I will be passing out hugs and kisses to initialize our third year. ;)

Thanks for all your love and support...

your humble servant,

Pull Apart

The humidity here has been horrid for the past month. With a solid 4 weeks of rain (I think we've seen the sun for about 30 minutes total), the temp can be in the mid 70's, but with humidity it feels like 110 and it's so thick you can cut it with a knife!

This morning on my way to work I was listening to the radio DJ's discuss the humidity (we're scheduled to get some heat and sun this next week! whooohooo!) and the fact that they have experienced 'chaffing in cracks and crevices where there usually isnt a problem'. They wear different undies on the higher humidity days to help prevent friction which creates a rash.... which then requires them to use ointment. One guy said the hardest part is recruiting someone to apply the ointment to his rashy areas. eeewwww!

But funny thing is.. this isnt the first conversation i've heard about this rash issue. I guess with the heat and humidity.. you start sweating profusely in the crack of your butt and the constant rubbing of cheeks coupled with being wet, causes a terrible diaper rash.

Desitin isnt just for babies.

Shaun of the Dead

Bright and early this morning, Richard and C visited our local friendly oral surgeon and had all 8 (4 each) wisdom teeth extracted.

C went first... and when they moved him to recovery they asked me to sit with him. Then they took Richard in for his plucking. Both boys opted to be put to sleep so they wouldn't hear or feel the business going on in their mouths - which I think was a really good decision.

C was in recovery just sleeping away... this nice little soft snoring. Not Richard. I heard them come out of surgery and talking to him... walking him to the recovery room. I peeked around the corner and busted up laughing so hard I thought i'd pee my pants. I darted back in C's room.

He looked like something from Shaun of the Dead. A walking zombie. He had the doctor with one arm, and the nurse with the other arm... he was walking stiff like Frankenstein and babbling on and on about something. I heard just a little of 'that was not bad at all!'

They laid him down on his little recovery bed and the doctor tried to run through the surgery and how it all went... but Richard kept babbling. It was like his tongue was 12 inches thick and he was on a week long drunken binge coupled with a round of Meth just to give him that extra little 'ummph' in his step. We kept chuckling at him... finally Richard raised his head, smiled and gave the doctor a 'thumbs up'. *insert hysterical laughing by us here*

After getting all the news, I sat down by Rich who kept trying to sit up but couldn't raise his own head off the pillow. He babbled and rambled and told me that 'he's really good! He should do this for a living!!' then added 'you should be a doctor!' I was laughing so hard! Then my precious... and I am not lying here... asked for a BJ! HAHAHAHAH I nearly fell out of my chair! Of course not! But I certainly grabbed my phone and started shooting little blips of video. He kept telling me 'thats some good shit' and 'I like that stuff... I could do more!'

This craziness went on for 30 minutes. I was soooo glad I volunteered to sit with Richard and the cute little nurse sat with C. I'd hate for her to have to listen to all that and be asked to perform BJ services. HAHAHAHAH Gawd, that would have been hilarious!

When we got home, C was right back to sleeping... and Rich.... well Rich decided to pass out on me. Listerally. I fixed them up with ice packs (tied around their heads) and laid them down. When I took them their pain pills, C swallowed his without sitting up, but Richard sat straight up, swallowed the pill and passed out smooth. So, now i'm on light-headedness alert. It's alot of drama for 4 little sweet teeth...

Oh Crappy Day... update

A quick update to my yesterday crappy day....

First thing this morning our outstanding Director of HR asked me to visit with him in his office. He wanted to know if I had been confronted by the meanie yet. I told him I had been, and that he had apoligized and said "it was all in fun. I meant it all as a joke... I thought we were joking". Well, you don't call someone in your office and say those things and mean it as a joke. It was purely on purpose and he was trying to cover by doing the "it was a joke" thing.

HR guy agreed it wasnt a joke nor should ever be presented as one. It was completely inappropriate and added that I "don't have to work in those conditions". So.... should anything come of this, he's got my back!

Had any of the guys taken off to another site to work (and they do weekly), nothing would have been said. I do it once and something gets said to me. It was because i'm female!

Deep Impact

My vacation plans went horribly awry when I got involved in a two-vehicle accident leaving work last rainy Thursday evening. After a quick (not) trip to the ER I discovered I am suffering from a punctured lung (small, fortunately), cracked and bruised ribs, bump on the forehead, two black eyes and various and sundry bruises yet I’m very thankful to be alive to tell the tale. Oh yeah, and I bit my tongue and have a lovely canker sore. My preshus GP's prognosis is far more dismal and the legal ramifications are murky at present. I should know more later. The pain pills are keeping the ouchies at bay but sitting at the comp for any length of time exacerbates my situation so I’ll keep this post short and sweet. Have a fabulous Fourth and I’ll catch you for our 2 year 'versary on Friday!!!

This Makes Monday Really Suck

I am so ticked!

This morning I was marching down the hall - minding my own business - when I heard "kerry, can I talk to you?". It was my new supervisor (since the death of my favorite and much missed supervisor). I stopped in his office and plopped down in the chair to see what he had on his mind.

He sat half chuckling and nervously playing with a coaster on his desk. He began:

Him: I've thought allll weekend as to why Kerry would want to go to Site XYZ on Friday and I've come up with three reasons.

I'm kind of chuckling at this time because this sounds funny and he's kind of chuckling so i'm guessing something funny happened(?)

Him: 1) you just wanted to get out of the office (and he's counting these out on his fingers) 2) you were just trying to pad your travel expenses to get more money or 3) you're having a fling with Bobby Joe (not his real name) at Site XYZ.

I busted up laughing. Partially because this is the most absurd thing i've ever heard and it was obvious as to why I was going. It IS my job!

He continued:
Him: I'm really hoping it's not number 3. You know he's a known casanova. I'm hoping to rule that out.

Now, i'm starting to get pissed. I'm not sure whether to laugh, cry or really get mad... but it is making me mad because this is completely insane!

He saw me walk out of the office on Friday with equipment in my hand - taking it to Site XYZ so they'd have working equipment fast! My ex-boss always told me I didnt travel enough and I needed to keep in better contact with all of our far sites and now I finally went and THIS is what I get out of it!?

I start in: Well, first of all they needed equipment...
Him: You could send it with a driver that goes down there
Me: I have been told for a year that I dont spend enough time at other plants. I've always been told I need to go visit more and make appearances... and I havent traveled in a year! Besides they needed the goods quickly, they also had PC and scanner issues they wanted to talk to me about. It was better to go and see what they wanted to do (move some offices around) than to try to hammer it out over the phone!

Him: I don't see why you need to go anywhere. I havent been to those other sites in 15 years.

Well, my job is NOTHING like his job. He programs!

Me: Well, I've always been told that's part of my job.
Him: Well, I just couldnt make sense of it and I was just wanting to know.

He then kept chuckling and tried to dismiss me.

I headed straight around the corner to the owner's ADM ASST office and told her the story. She went ballistic. "Get to HR now and turn that in! He has no business even asking you anything about any of it!"

I called Richard for consoling...

Then I headed to HR and turned him in for making such an accusation. I dont think it's appropriate at all... and certainly not coming from someone who spends his lunch hours at the local strip club!

Baby Love

Here's our little sweetness... sucking her thumb I think!

Snakepit

I recently experienced a close encounter of the snake kind and darn if we didn’t have another one on Tuesday. I had thought I’d blogged about the first but cannot find the post so maybe not. Several weeks ago TBC discovered a small one curled up in our hallway beside the full-length mirror. I had to have walked right by him several times during my morning routine but fortunately I avoid stepping on the dozing crawler. Yikes! All we can figure is the night before he had slid through a one-inch gap in our north door and made himself at home. Tuesday, TBC again called me at work to say he had found a three-foot black snake with bird snacks on his slithery brain draped around a rafter right next to our sliding glass door. Our barnswallows that nest on the roof of the carport were understandably disturbed by this turn of events but TBC saved the day and caught the hungry serpent before it could reach them. TBC thinks these alarming sightings so close to (or IN) the house are not related to the excessive rainfall we’ve experienced but I’m guessing they are. His lifeless body (no, not TBC’s) is currently hanging from our lightpole with a sharp knife through his head, a warning to all other hissing creatures thinking our feathered friends might make a tasty treat.

On this the last day before my extended break, things have been hectic and chaotic. The Grand Exalted Poobah’s assistant had spit out no less nine emails before noon with stern warnings regarding outages and funerals and everything in-between. Not only is my building closed next Monday and Tuesday, but late start summer classes begin and I’m gone on vacation for the next few weeks. This week I’ve been training "Svetlana" on taking over my complicated (kidding) duties in my absence thus adding to the already chaotic situation. I’m counting my blessings that I won’t be present when all hell breaks loose next Monday and all my prior campus-wide communication falls on deaf ears. Oh well. Easy come, easy go.

In deference to our dear CruiserMel, I leave you with six factoids regards my snoozing habits.

6 Weird things I do while getting ready to sleep or while sleeping:

1. I blow. According to TBC I make this interesting (annoying) sound when I’m asleep where I exhale little puffs of air. And it drives him nuts. He snores like a chainsaw so I fail to see what crime I’ve committed.

2. I toss and turn. A lot. I usually do quarter turns (clockwise) until I finally fall asleep which brings me to…

3. I have chronic insomnia. This is most likely because I tend to tally up all my worries when I finally catch a quiet moment and unfortunately that moment occurs right at bedtime. So I tend to take sleep aids on most evenings but I alternate them so I won’t be addicted. I’m not sure which is worse, taking something possibly habit-forming or being a miserable, sleep-deprived zombie the next day at work. Guess I’ll take the pills.

4. I love to read Star Wars novels before dropping off to sleep. As gripping as the critical Yuuzhan Vong invasion of the galaxy is, I never lay awake at night nervously mulling its possible ramifications.

5. I get a nasty sore throat if I sleep nekkid so I must utilize some form of sleepwear. It’s either silky nighties in the summer or flannel jammies in the winter. I also must have some form of covering on even if it’s only a sheet. Go figure.

6. I cannot hear any talking or music before falling asleep but love white noise, especially a fan or air purifier. And while I grew up drifting off to the noisy echo of busy traffic, it’s the sound of total silence I simply cannot handle. Back when I was a teenager, I spent the night with my bud Angie in the rural home her and her mom were then living in. I lay awake all night because, as I groggily informed her the next morning, only two vehicles had passed the entire night!

Okay gang. Take care this weekend and I’ll make a special effort to post before the Fourth! :)

smooches,

Baby News

It is so irritating when you get started writing, get interrupted, and so you save your post then go back to finish it and it's NOT saved! Dangit! It was a good one too!

I've tried hard not to make my entries mostly like a babyblog, but this one time i've gotta talk about the little baby :)

We had an ultrasound yesterday and all indications are that this little guy is a girl! Richard is soooo excited! We left the doctors office with our video and pictures of the little tyke and headed home. I changed... headed to the gym... leaving Richard at home just grinning from ear to ear and working on editing the video.

Later, I get a text message from him.

R: I'm so in love!
Me: ok... with who?
R: Our little girl!
Me: You're screwed.
R: She's going to break my little heart
Me: Yep. You're screwed. She already has you wrapped around her finger and she isn't even here yet!
R: Yep.
Me: You're screwed.

I can see it all now... I'll be the mean one. haha

I hope to get a few sonogram pics posted. She is so sweet... sucking her thumb and stretching those legs. She has Richards toes. He is the only man... person... i've ever seen who can stretch all of their toes apart like fingers! She did it!!!! hahahahahahahha

Buy Me Some Sun

I'm going to Cozumel, kids!!!! *cheerleader jump*

Richard called me at work and asked me about a trip and we got to looking and decided to jump in and take off before school starts. I'm ready to see some sun and sand! No more of this monsoon weather! Yipppeee! Today marks the 15th consecutive day of rain.

Oh yes.... and it seems we'll be buying pink for this little baby ;)

Let's Make a Deal

You know how some people are at the right place at the right time, unearthing all the genuine bargains and never paying full price for a single thing? EVER? I’m not one of them, but my sister is. It doesn’t matter what we are talking about, from toiletries to handbags to clothing to house furnishings, she manages to sniff out any advertised or unadvertised sale, and top it off with extra discounts or coupons thus further lowering its already reduced price. She can wade through a garage sale or secondhand store and uncover real gems sprinkled throughout the superficial dross, totally skipping over the worthless junk. I, on the other hand, will either find nothing but crap, select the most expensive items when I do find anything of worth, and no matter what I’m buying, will have totally missed the sale by sometimes only a day. Sis bought a leopard purse just like mine recently and plunked down a whopping dollar for her second-hand twinkie. This comparison could have been worse as I only paid five bucks for a new one but as we shall see, this is a very rare scenario. Much more common are the next two examples proving this startling monetary deviation where she made out like a bandit and I paid through the nose. Both of us have duplicate prescriptions for a certain tube of medication from our shared dermatologist. And just how much does yours truly shell out for this green cylinder? $97 smackeroos. Almost one hundred dollars and that’s generic mind you. And how much does Mz WaaayBetterInsurance cough up? $10. Ten measly dollars. For the exact same medication. And I don’t think hers is even generic! Now I realize that the obvious reason for this wide discrepancy is the huge gulf between our respective insurance companies (mine bites) and that my state insurance won’t pay jack on something they don’t view as ‘medical’ (which indeed is now) and federal insurance is considerably more accommodating, but still... The most recent instance was a few weeks ago when we both selected almost duplicate frames from our optometrist’s office. Same brand, same color, just a slightly different shape. Thanks to my sucky insurance, I am completely left at the mercy of retail prices and the full cost of those attractive frames was $150. And just how much out-of-pocket money would dear sis need to purchase the exact same pair? $20!!! I think I can be excused for feeling taken advantage of, a clueless neophyte in a sea of savvy shoppers. It’s the story of my life. I will admit to green-eyed envy directed at those blessed with the gift of sniffing out true bargains and making impressive deals. All I ask that they occasionally stop and remember the hapless paying-out-the-wazooty souls who offset their seemingly effortless consumer transactions.

Where Have I Been?

I didn't realize it's been several days since i've posted! wow how time flies!!

It's raining flipping cats and dogs. We're supposed to get some 4.85 inches by 5pm tomorrow... so in just about 36 hours it will be flood levels again. Wait... the flood from before really hadnt lowered because it had nowhere to run off to because of the rains before that! I'm building an ark!

Sunday we spent a good part of the day at the lake with a coworker of Richard's and his wife. We took the boys out tubing and with the first run, the material on the tube - ripped! It was the first time Jack had used the tubed too... so it was a real bummer. We did about three rounds and decided to head to the local wal-mart for a new tube or something else to play with. Richard, Jack and C headed to shop... and the rest of us stayed in the boat soaking up some rays. Within no time they were back and we went for round 2 of jetting around the lake. We got about three miles from our launch site.... killed the engine to let people in and out of the boat... the sucker wouldnt start again!

The guys pulled this, tugged that, took this and that apart, etc.. but it was a no go. We contacted lake patrol... which was actually the local police department (they patrol the lake too) and got towed in. It was an action packed day for sure! The lake was up about 6 feet too. Picnic tables were covered, docks were under water... its crazy! And now its pouring again. Lovely.

My friend Deb, that went to Vegas with us, text mess'd me last night and she's going to be a grandma!!! Congrats to you Debbie! This will be her first grandbaby - of many more to come I think :) I'm so happy for her!

Life on Tour

Yesterday after work Richard and I visited the 4th daycare center in our World Wind Tour of Baby Centers 2007.

I ‘heard’ that we should start looking early here because most daycares have waiting lists for newborns. So last week we started the daunting task of touring, questioning, drilling, interviewing, smelling and signing up at daycares. The center last night (#3 which we really liked) said they’ve had parents wait up to a year before to get a newborn in! Oh my….

Center #1 We liked. Kind of. To me it seemed a bit dirty but it might have been because it was a little older and their equipment seemed dated a bit. However, they did give us a grand tour and were very open with information and their policies and procedures. I did like how they have a daily checklist of what occurs with baby and each day they send it home so you are aware of what they ate, how much they slept and how many potties and poopies they did. We got on the list.

Center #2 GAG A MAGGOT. First of all, I hated the parking lot. If we go there, i’ll suffer from parking lot rage and be in counseling for the next 12 years trying to recover. Secondly, little Director Lady walked us in the infant room and said ‘here’s our infant room’. That’s it. No big grand tour, no explanation of daily activities or curriculum. Nothing. She offered nothing… we had to quiz her for information. Plus the place was small.. it seemed congested. Clean, but really congested. Plus they charged quite a bit more than center #1 and offered less. PLUS i didn’t like their parking lot. PLUS you had to pay $60 to even sit on their waiting list. I dont think so. They aren’t that special. I still don’t like their parking lot.

Center #3 we loved! Its actually the same daycare company as Center #1, but at a different location. It was very clean and spacious and Daycare Director Lady was very helpful and informative. They charge a truckload more for a newborn (up to 12 months), but they seemed very organized and clean and all the employees seemed clean and nice and clean. The setup was the same as Center #1 except the Infant to Teacher ratio was better. 4:1 here as compared to 6:1 at Center #1. Clean is important.

Center #4 we saw last night. It's a bit of a drive from our house - compared to the other centers, but we thought we'd check it out because if it's 'the one' then we'll drive the distance. Before we even entered the building... something was stenchy. It was either poop or vomit, or a combination of the two. I couldn't quite put my finger on it.... and Richard seemed to think it also had a bleachy smell. So they were cleaning up something. BLAH. The center seemed nice and the girl giving us the tour was really informative and helpful. However, (how do i put this nicely) the employees seemed... a little rough around the edges. Nice enough? It just wasn't my top pick. However, they had been picked by our school district to have a Pre-K program and so we knew from that, it had passed all kinds of inspections and hadn't been in any kind of trouble. I think the jury is still out on this one. It would work if we need it to, but we still prefer #3.

My very favorite childcare person is in Chickasha… I can’t drive that far… so maybe I could get her to move here!??! Can ya, Jackie!? Please!?!? Can ya, can ya.. huh!??! huh!??!!? *beggin*

Cops 'n Cooters

Yesterday during the half hour drive home I observed not one but two vehicles in the act of being pulled over by the boyz in blue for what I’m assuming were speeding violations. Just as I left the college, a van heading the other way was stopped by a town cop who whipped around and flashed his lights. Further down the highway, I observed the little white car right behind me obediently pull over to the side when the hypo trailing him demanded obeisance. *cue foreshadowing music* Today I took extra measures with my morning toilette as I have my annual cooter checkup (oh joy) today and as a result, I was running behind schedule. As I flew down the highway I relived vivid flashbacks of an uncomfortable incident in the lounge yesterday morning when I stood waiting for the microwave to finish heating my water. A fellow worker bee walked in, sunglasses on, bag in tow, obviously very late for work. (Yes, it’s tough to make it here at 7am but by god missy, it was 7:30!) With exquisite timing Grand Exalted Poobah picked that precise moment to get a cup of joe and it was obvious he knew darn well she had just arrived by that telltale look of displeasure on his face. Not wanting a repeat of that tardiness episode, I put the pedal to the metal as I raced to work. As luck would have it, there laying in wait to ambush the unwary was MrTownCopFromYesterday sneakily ready to pounce on the unsuspecting Mz Circe as she zipped down the home stretch! I waffled between laughing and crying but went with my ‘honestly is the best policy’ feeling and told him exactly why I was in such a hurry, sparing no detail. My refreshing truthfulness was rewarded as he let me go scott free. And I barely escaped getting caught by GEP. Just barely. Whew!

"Kentucky DMV Introduces Game of Chicken to Driver's Test"

LOUISVILLE, KY— The Kentucky Department of Motor Vehicles announced yesterday that the game of chicken will be added to the state's driver's-license road test, testing prospective motorists' ability to drive directly towards one another at an accelerating speed.

"We want to make sure new drivers can handle everyday Kentucky driving scenarios," said DMV spokesman Marty Kerta

The state's test is already one of the most challenging in the nation, requiring Kentuckians to drive through stop signs, hurtle into police roadblocks, achieve at least two seconds of airborne status, and do donuts.

"If we have drivers on the road lacking these vital chicken skills, something terrible could happen—like, for instance, someone swerving away at the last second like a giant pussy," Kerta said.

Of course that news item was a complete fabrication (I think) unlike this very real Okiedokieville one boldly proclaimed in my town’s paper last week:

Stolen Legs Are Recovered

OC deputies conducting a search warrant Thursday night stumbled upon a pair of stolen prosthetic legs at a residence in the 9500 block of --- Road.

C.C., OC Sheriff's Department Investigator, said 23-year-old --- is facing charges of knowingly concealing stolen property and drug charges.

The legs and two video games were reported stolen from 19-year-old --- in April.

C. said that the legs are in the custody of the OC Sheriff's Department.

Just your basic, humdrum, run-of-the-mill thievery going on here gang!

People are SO Stupid!

You have got to be flippin' kidding me!!!!?!?!!

Rosie is in the running for the new host of The Price is Right!?

What are these people thinking? Did they NOT just watch the whole fiasco on The View this past year? Do they have their heads in the sand (or up their butts)?!?!? She is now slamming Barbara Walters on her precious blog.... after Barbara has defended her foul mouth all these months! Rosie is a wench! I will never watch The Price is Right again!

I never watched it anyways....

And... to make matters worse...

Chili's - Chocolate Chip Paradise Pie
(1,600 calories, 78g fat, 950mg sodium, 215g carbs, 6g fiber, 19g protein)

We're not gonna lie: This buttery, sweet, multi-layered bar topped with vanilla ice cream and more tastes insanely good. But even if you split it with a pal, you're still gonna be inhaling 800 calories and nearly 40 grams of fat! Yikes! If you've gotta have a sweet fix while chillin' at Chili's, order a side of their gooey and dessert-y Cinnamon Apples (210 calories, 8g fat). Just a fun little tip from HG... Wheeee!

Paradise Pie is my alltime favorite!!!

BFF Bites!

Many of us loathe this overused term and with good reason. It is an exceptional few that experience the joys of keeping a long-running friendship alive and well as the road is often lined with perils and pitfalls. Thanks to imperfect human nature, cracks and fissures eventually develop between ourselves and those with whom we share considerable time and emotional closeness resulting in a shifting of balance. Unfortunately, this alteration rarely happens at precisely the same time for those involved and someone (read: you) gets badly hurt. My three personal pitf.., I mean ‘special friendships’ of yesteryear were with Annie, Cathy and my sister-in-law, Susan and started at the auspicious age of 4.

Annie was also 4 and lived on my street and though specifics are lost to misty memory, I do recall many happy hours playing with dolls together in my back yard. At any rate, we became best friends. *cue sappy music* Her BFF status came to a screeching halt when her family decided to locate elsewhere. (It’s darn near impossible for 4-year-olds to stay in touch). I still remember the day she brought by her autograph book for me to put pen (or crayon) to paper and express my unending devotion when I happened to glance at adjacent pages. Imagine my shock and dismay when I spied the moniker under the heading “Best Friend.” Yes, dear gang, it was not your humble servant but rather the devious little minx, Joanne, who succeeded in stealing my closest companion AND my starter boyfriend!!! My little heart was ripped to shreds in my undeveloped chest after discovering this callous betrayal. Years passed and though my locale changed, my luck in the "bestest buds" department remained dismally consistent.

In my early 20s I met cute, vibrant, sassy, fun-loving Cathy through her sister-in-law and we hit it off big-time. All went swimmingly for several years until she met Mr Wonderful who arbitrarily decided I lacked the lofty scruples and high caliber moral fiber needed to continue a female alliance with his newly wedded bride. As I was now deemed an unsuitable companion, she swiftly cut all ties and I was left to drift away in the passing current as they waved in unison from the marital shore. The happy, attached-at-the-hip couple eventually moved away and though I still occasionally see her when she visits relatives, we limit our chats to brief, meaningless pleasantries.

Time passed and with amnesia clouding my spotty memory, I tripped headfirst into the BFF lair of TBC’s younger sister, Susan. We whiled away many pleasant hours at the swimming beach, downing brews, soaking up the sun and showing off our svelte bodies. Invariably, we took turns one-upping each other in the saucy retort department. She also moved away (I’m detecting a pattern here) and six months later married a guy in her apt. complex. This time the addition of a spouse had few repercussions as our congenial friendship continued unabated albeit distantly. Being related didn’t hurt either. Several times I drove up to visit and we laughed, relaxed and caught up on news. Our unforeseen parting of ways occurred in a most unusual manner. One weekend she was down visiting and TBC and I included her in a trip to see my sis who was then living in a neighboring town. I offhandedly made a remark about an article I had read in a popular magazine when she haughtily and disdainfully informed all present that she never read that offensive publication. Excuse me? This 180 degree turn must have been of recent origin as she was far from a paragon of virtue and was well acquainted with said journal. Icy silence engulfed the return trip home. Apparently this minor disagreement was just the tip of the proverbial iceberg as a massive cataclysmic upheaval in relations resulted. She returned home to MIL and let volley a barrage of invectives cataloging endless real and imagined grievances against yours truly which then snowballed into an even larger firestorm of epic proportions with MIL! The excessive fallout was irreparable with both and though things were partially patched up by the time MIL died, things never returned to the easygoing camaraderie we once enjoyed. Long divorced from her spouse, Susan still resides in her adopted city, rarely darkening Okieland’s door. The few times we have spoken in the intervening years, the tenacious chip remains solidly affixed to her stubborn shoulder. And it all started over a silly magazine that even I quit reading eons ago. Amazing. Needless to say, I have staunchly sworn off BFFs for good and with understandable reason. I do hope your experiences have proved far less toxic than mine but promise me you will periodically check your vulnerable back for those telltale stab marks because truly, being forewarned is forearmed, right? Live and learn.

Let There Be Light!

I'm getting new kitchen lights today! The electrician (and his little helper guy) is here putting in 6 new lights - so I can finally see over the sink and around all the counters! yipppeeee!

They make me nervous though... I sat and listened to them "get on the same page" as to where the lights go and how they were going to "go about this". I was so praying they wouldnt accidentally cut a hole where they really didn't want one. So far, so good. I went in to supervise once... and they told me they had it under control. Translation: go back to what you were doing lady. hahaha

I hear some little clanks and clatters - what sounds like lights going in. I'm scared to check.

Hostile Work Environment

The morning got off to a bumpy start with a power outage shortly after arriving at work. For approximately one hour the city worked through their ‘energy issues’ as we worker drones sat tight and pondered our next move. Snacks came out of hiding as in the spirit of camaraderie we shared our goodies. "Sunshine” and I decided to take advantage of our lack of productivity by enjoying a short, brisk walk outside. After the power blipped back on and the computers and phones revived, we were good to go until lunchtime. Just now as I sat hunched over my desk feverishly worki.., er, um, gazing off into space quietly contemplating the long summer afternoon, I heard horrendous, headache-inducing drilling just outside my door. Quickly closed to prevent further acute hearing loss I now ponder the efficacy of throwing ear protectors into my overstuffed tote tomorrow. My vacation days aren’t going to arrive soon enough. :)

Birthday Bash

Saturday, Richard and I headed north to my hometown where we were meeting up with a group of our friends to have a little suprise birthday dinner for another one of our friends. Laura had called me on Monday of last week and wanted to get everyone together in the city so we could all go out... but Kelly and I had already made plans to surprise Laura this weekend with everyone getting together for her birthday. So.... I had to come up with some story as to why it wouldnt be good for us to get together last week... and "maybe this next week will work better"... so that her birthday surprise would be so much more meaningful and fun! it all worked out.

Richard and I got to the pub early with her balloon bouquet and Princess party hat.
I tried the hat on while we waited....

Laura was in complete shock when she walked in. Kelly told her they were going out to eat... but just those two. Laura was sooo excited! I think you can tell by the picture.

Everyone eating, drinking and swapping crazy stories!

One happy threesome. Richard, me and Brad.

We had the waitress take a group picture before we left. We dont get together as much anymore... so we wanted this keepsake!

I Finally Made it to Friday

Yikes. Kelly Clarkson cancelled her summer tour! NBD... I'm not a fan.

Paris is still in jail.

And... Zoobilation is still scheduled to take place despite the torrential downpours we are experiencing here in our blessed state. I kid you not. I looked out my back door this morning and we had raging rapids. Not puddles of water... but raging rapids that had potential to sweep you off into the neighbors yard if you were to go out and stand in them. We've gotten 4+ inches overnight (or in the past 24 hours or so). It's crazy!

There was a 6 car accident on the Raceway that I take to work each morning. It was pretty much cleaned up by the time I got to the location, but on the radio they announced another accident had just happened on the same highway, but about 1/2 mile behind me. I made it without incident. Thank God. Seriously. I think he knows he needs to keep his little hand on Kerry because she'd probably choke the crap outta someone if they were to bang into her! I don't want to go through all that again. It's forecast to rain for another week...

This weekend is Father's Day and it's jammed packed for us. The Electrician is coming to do a few things at our house, we are having dinner (actually its a surprise for one of our friends) with a big group of our friends from my home town, and we get to spend part of the time with my dad! I'm excited to get to see everyone!!!

At lunch i'm going to go buy us a new boat and instead of driving to the northern part of the state.... we'll just boat there. It will probably save on gas and we can take turns skiing!

Seven Up

As a pleasant diversion to finish off my week, I’m going to indulge our dear Cruiser Mel and reveal seven facts/habits about me on this thrilling Thursday. The rules, as etched in obsidian are as follows:

Here's the deal: Each player starts with 7 random facts / habits about themselves. People who are tagged need to write their own blog with their 7 things as well as these rules. You need to tag 7 others and list their names on your blog. Remember to leave a comment for them letting them know they have been tagged and to read your blog. So without further ado, here goes:
  1. Men suck. Yes, that’s an unfair blanket assessment of the opposite sex but lately males (yeah, plural) have taken vicarious pleasure in letting me down. I know the reason I’m feeling this way is because of the little phone tête-à-tête exchanged between TBC and I yesterday afternoon. I was engrossed in finding a street address for a new school we added to our ITV roster and I needed to process a FedEx shipment before the courier arrived. Time was of the essence. Out of the blue TBC calls my cell to question whether I had faxed an important document the day before. Mind you, I have to scurry out of my office and race down the hall toward the lounge to participate in this two-way conversation as cell reception is abysmal. My mind went completely blank and I blurted out I must have forgotten to fax it and was unsure where the document was which prompted an unappreciated, venom-filled tirade. Apparently when I fail to do his bidding, its fine and dandy to chew my ass out though I never berate his shortcomings in the brain freeze department. Taken aback and not wishing to engage in a nasty, mud-slinging shoutfest, I offered to call him back when I had further clarification. It was on the trek back to my office that it hit me I had indeed faxed it first thing yesterday morning as requested. Now I’m furious. I returned his call from the office phone and hissed that I had carried out this order and speaking to me in this harsh manner was NOT acceptable. He informed me he darn well could and would and I once again strongly disagreed. I was then informed he “wasn’t putting up with my shit” and I hung up on him. I fumed for awhile longer, concocting schemes of sweet, sweet revenge before sanity prevailed. We attempted to discuss our respective points of view upon my return home but once again he became extremely agitated and I walked away. Yeah, I love being married to an asshole.
  2. Kerbear and I are coming up on our two year (July 6) Blogaversary. Last year’s celebration didn’t turn out quite the way we expected as on that very day, our preshus (and easy) domain name was snatched out from under us thanks to some convoluted and murky dealings. Understandably, our happiness and joy were considerably subdued but this year we anticipate a true no-holds-barred, celebratory blowout. Alrighty then!
  3. This past weekend, “K” once again showed me her hilarious depiction of my ass-over-teakettle spill during last years memorable Oktoberfest when my tractionless flipflops sent me comically hurtling to the ground as simultaneously my newly-purchased, sugary funnel cake shot skyward before ignominiously joining me in kissing terra firma. Much like the first viewing, I laughed so hard I cried. I must have been a sight to behold but I still cringe in remembered mortification every time I replay it in my head as it is my No. 1 most embarrassing moment in recent history. Though months away, I’m already planning to hide behind a drab, non-descript outfit, wraparound ebony shades, and possibly a wig disguise before attending this years event.
  4. I’m ready for my three-day weekend to start.
  5. I miss Kerry and all the times I could just pop into her office to laugh, chat, and gossip. We did it every day and though I like our current ragtag little troop, it’s nowhere close to the sparkle and pop that came with having her as a captivating coworker.
  6. I part my hair on the left side.
  7. I’m left-handed and proud of it. :)

I’m tagging Traveling Chica, Burg, Wine Sipper, Sizzle, Sparkles, Eileen, and Weather.

Have a fabulous Friday, darlings!

Drowned Rat

It’s raining yet again and indeed the heavens poured forth during the drive time to work leaving me surveying my personal damage. There’s nothing quite like juggling a massive tote, though it does at least have a zipper, a cutesy purse (no zipper or snap), and an ungainly travel umbrella as I clop my way to the building. Of course nothing spurs on a quick burst of speed like an ominous clap of thunder smack dab in the middle of my already hurried trek. However, it’s not the external water that did the damage though I am sporting a large, lovely wet spot on the side of my pants. It seems my water bottle lid came loose and decided to shower the contents of the tote with an unexpected bath. I detected muffled sobs coming from the bowels of the water-logged contraption and pulled out my drenched lighthouse-façaded planner looking bedraggled, battered, and abused. Most of the items can take any weather-related incidents but obviously not the paper-laden planner or the notes I had tossed in just this morning with insurance info and numbers. I would pick today of all days to give them a ring thus hoping to employ my best powers of persuasion in changing their rigid stance on a particular bone of contention. Fortunately I can easily find those digits again and recall my plan of strategy for presenting my side, but I think I may wait for a more opportune time...

I don’t know how many of you read "Dear Prudence" or "Ask Miss Manners" but the problems are usually darn entertaining and it's fun to hear how these experts present their solutions. One I recently read was so hilarious that I felt the need to share it:

Dear Prudence,
I am one of five women at my office. Roughly three out of five mornings, the one man we work with spends the first 10 to 15 minutes of the day in the (single, shared) bathroom. We work in a small office where we need to be available to any current or potential clients who call or drop in, so it does affect the rest of us if someone disappears mysteriously since, obviously, he doesn't announce that he's heading off to the can. I feel that if something is happening on such a regular basis, he should be able to take care of it at home before he comes to work. (He has only a half-hour commute.) My two-part question for you is: Is it worth saying something to him about it? And, presumably this would be a job for our manager, but what would be the best way of going about this? She usually hasn't arrived by that point in the morning, and so is not aware of this tendency.

Waiting for the Can

Dear Waiting,
How would you approach this with your manager? "Sue, I believe Dick starts his day with a bowel movement at the office. Could you please tell him to coordinate his bodily functions better so we don't have to cover for him for the first 10 minutes of work?" Maybe you could talk to Dick and tell him that if he's going to be doing something beside No. 1, he should announce it so the rest of you can plan your morning accordingly. Or maybe Dick is in the bathroom checking his insulin, maybe he has irritable bowel syndrome, or maybe it's hard to imagine that there is anything more inappropriate for you to say anything to anyone about.

Another Night of Excitement

Will this continue for months to come? These dreams are crazy!
The latest in Kerry Dreamland….

Let me start off by saying I have great teeth.

I dreamed that I had a bad tooth which the dentist could not save and his course of action to save my great smile was to pull the tooth – with a few others – and give me a partial denture. I lay in the chair while he does the work, and it just so happens that he has my partial laying right there, fitted and ready for me.

He popped that sucker in my mouth and it filled the gaps where no one would have ever known they weren’t my real teeth except for the fact that they looked like white chiclet gum and were about 3X thicker than real teeth which pushed my upper lip out and made me look like I had Bucky Beaver Teeth!

I screamed hysterically and begged him to file them down thinner. He said “they look fine and you will get used to them. The speech problem will go away when you get used to them”. There I sat looking at my Bucky Beaver. They changed the way I looked. They made my cheeks suck in because my lip was stretched so far trying to cover them. I looked like Rosanna Arquette. Worse.

I pulled them out to see if I could get away with not wearing the partial… but it was a no-go because then I had gaps and it was trailer trash looking. I had to wear the Bucky Beaver look.

The dream ended at 2:16am… and I’ve been up ever since

Midsummer Nights Dream

I had a dream last night that I had this baby.... at home! Those are not my intentions... nor are they Richards. However for some reason I was in labor and didn't know it. I was standing up and Richard was taking pictures of my big ol baby gut when all of a sudden the baby just came shooting out! Hubby caught it like he was catching a 50 yard pass!

It was a boy!

Not one little pain either.

If you dream that you are on your way to the hospital to have a baby, then it signifies your issues of dependency and your desire to be completely care for. Perhaps you are trying to get out of some responsibility. If you are pregnant, then a more direct interpretation may simply mean that you are experiencing some anxieties of making it to the hospital when the time comes.

To dream that you are laboring, suggests that you have goal that will take a lot of hard work to accomplish.

If you are really pregnant and having this dream, then it represents your anxieties about the pregnancy. Women in the first trimester of their pregnancy tend to dream of tiny creatures, fuzzy animals, flowers, fruit and water. In the second trimester, dreams will reflect your anxieties about being a good mother

Paris

Paris Hilton sure has a way of making a fiasco out of everything!

She got a DUI, kept driving, got sentenced to 45 days, whined and got 23 days, checked into her cell, whined (or slept with someone or paid someone), got sent home after 3 days, caused holy hell between those important people in charge now they are fighting about it all, might get sent back to the bars. Good grief! Just do the time already and shut up about it!

Anyone else would have gotten months upon months!!!

More Baby News

Last week while I was in Las Vegas, one of the techs had called in sick most of the week and Monday morning he called me and said he was staying home yet one more day. He sounded congested and apparently had been battling strep. I turned in his time for him, and HR contacted me to inquire as to his status and to make sure we didn't need to start working on other arrangements (short term disability vs. personal time off). Tuesday morning I got an email from him that said he wouldnt be in yet again.. he'd been to the emergency room the night before and was going to the hospital to meet a radiologist.

Our thoughts ran wild.... we had him diagnosed with all sorts of crazy things. Primarily blisters *giggle*. We're mean (fun) like that.

Today... he made it! So, I asked him how his sickness is going, how he feels, how the hospital thing turned out.

He said Monday he felt fine, but decided to go ahead and stay home and had full intentions of coming to work on Tuesday. However, his girlfriend woke him up about midnight... deathly ill and requesting to go to the ER. He sat in the ER with her til about 2:30am waiting while they took her pee and blood and poked and prodded. Then, after all that, the doctor came in and said Congratulations! Our tech asked 'what for!?' You're pregnant!

Yep.... The Ladies Man is going to have a baby. The last thing any of us ever expected... the last thing he ever expected too!

I laughed when he told me. He laughed... all the techs laughed. He'd threatened before to get someone pregnant so he could take off work for this and that with his kid like the rest of us do.... but we didnt think he really meant it! hahahaha

Anorexic Annie

As I was driving down the street a while ago thinking about hitting the gym tonite and what body parts we're going to work on (back and bicep night), it dawned on me that I haven't seen Annie (Anorexic chick)in quite some time.

The last time she was at the gym (I blogged it), she was obviously preggers and waddling... but she hasnt been back since. Now is the time she needs to be in the gym. Exercise does that baby good. I wonder if she'll come back!? Not that I miss her.... but i'm just curious as to whats up with that stomach!

Cruisin '07

Last Friday evening was our annual cruisefest where classic cars slowly glide up and down the road to the oohs and ahs of the appreciative crowd. Caught between two weather systems, it started with brief sprinkles and an occasion finger of lightning snaking across the sky followed by an earthshaking BOOM, provoking a very real concern of possible ringside seat electrocution, a much needed reprieve, and finally the waterlogged heavens opening up and drenching the dwindling masses right before the final hour. This pic is of two guys (love the white, floppy hat) parading around together on a motorcycle much to the merriment of the throng. They happened to be coworkers of sis who lost a bet to another company and were coerced into flaunting their feminine side. The one on the back blew sis a kiss and motioned for her to ‘call him’. LOL

I have totally blown it this week in terms of hopping on my fav treadmill at noon and I’m just chock full of excuses. Yesterday I was ‘too dressed up,’ today my allergies are kicking my butt, tomorrow I have an errand to run with “S”, and I’m taking a personal business day Thursday. All I can say is I’d better fit some walk time into the equation before the week is out.

In Your Face

Well gang, after much thoughtful deliberation, I finally decided to become an esteemed member of Facebook. At least it doesn’t display blinkyshit and that’s a huge point in its favor. At any rate, I would love to see your bright, shiny faces in my 'friend' column so please feel free to add Circe Chardonnay. (Unaware I was named after my favorite white wine?) ;)

Sad News from The Onion:

MySpace Outage Leaves Millions Friendless

BEVERLY HILLS, CA—An estimated 150 million people continued to be without social lives Tuesday as a massive system failure at MySpace.com entered its third day. "The problem is taking longer than we anticipated, but rest assured we're working around the clock to get MySpace back online," said David Gundy, a spokesman for the social networking site. "We're hoping to have friendship restored to our users as soon as possible." The outage, which occurred late Saturday night, is believed to be the result of a complicated wallpaper upload for the page of a former VH1 I Love New York contestant, which triggered a chain reaction of web browser crashes and server shutdowns. Although MySpace's emergency-response team has so far been unable to reconnect any of the millions currently stranded without access to online companionship, Gundy said he remains hopeful that no profiles have been lost…A handful of relief organizations have begun to offer some assistance to MySpace refugees. The American Red Cross is currently setting up a network of approximately 60 smaller-sized "fill-in" sites, where lonely MySpace users can post abbreviated profiles and receive instant messages from aid workers in half-hour increments. But because it's only intended as a temporary stopgap, user options are austere: MySpace members cannot list hobbies and interests, upload MP3s, or link to favorite YouTube clips, making friendship compatibility and popularity nearly impossible to predetermine. On Monday, MySpace co-creator Tom Anderson issued an apologetic press release on the website of MySpace's parent company, News Corporation. "So I know alot [sic] of you couldn't check out your profiles and I just want to say sorry for all the lameness on our end," Anderson wrote. "Rock on." :)
